Happy New Year! It’s been a while since I last checked in, and to be honest, I hit a bit of burnout around fitness and wellness toward the end of last year.

The constant noise from influencers pushing supplements, unrealistic lifestyles, and endless “longevity” talk really wore me down. It made me pause and reflect on my own relationship with training—and on my personal beliefs around what it truly means to live a fit, healthy life.

The good news? I’ve recently rediscovered my love of training—and especially my passion for helping others train smarter, and move better. I was also reminded that many of the “new” trends we’re seeing are really just old principles with new names—things my clients and I have been practicing successfully for years.

There are a few tenets that I have been preaching for a long time:

  • Eat at home (home-cooked when possible) more nights than you eat out

  • Walk as much as you can—even parking farther away adds up (steps accumulate quickly!)

  • Drink water consistently

  • On days you’re extra sweaty, training harder, traveling, or simply feeling run down, add electrolytes to your water

Simple steps that are easy to implement and easy to stick to.
